Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard Counterdrug Task Force and the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment help Drug Enforcement Administration agents load more than 19,000 pounds of unwanted or expired medications onto Virginia Guard light medium tactical vehicles, or LMTVs, May 2, 2014, in Richmond, Va. Following the load-up, the Soldiers and DEA agents hauled the drugs to an incinerator located in Northern Virginia for destruction. The drugs came from various collection points across the commonwealth and were collected as part of the DEA’s National Take-Bake Initiative, designed to properly and safely dispose of potentially harmful unwanted medications.
