CEPOV: the third newsletter for protecting victims is now available online
We are pleased to share the latest updates about the project Addressing the gap in multidisciplinary cooperation to enhance the protection of victims’rights (CEPOV) that is implemented from September 2024 until June 2026, with the financial support of the Justice Programme – European Commission, by Association Pro Refugiu (Romania), University of Bucharest (Faculty of Law), Italian Coalition for Civil Liberties and Rights, University Roma Tre (Italy) Solwodi Germany and Scandinavian Human Rights Lawyers (Sweden).
During January-March 2026, the partner entities carried out a series of organisational activities to ensure the implementation of 3 online roundtables in Romania (12 March 2026, event organizer Association Pro Refugiu in cooperation with the University of Bucharest-Faculty of Law, 36 participants), in Italy (2 April 2026, event organizer Italian Coalition for Civil Liberties and Rights in cooperation with the University Roma Tre, 24 participants), in Germany (16 April 2026, event organizer Solwodi, 21 participants).
These events were attended by professionals from institutions and organisations with expertise in the legal, social and other adjacent fields. At these events were approached topics related to the difficulties faced by victims of crime in accessing assistance services, strategies for strengthening cooperation between legal entities (bars associations, courts, etc.) and professionals from the social field, the role of new technologies in improving victims of crime’s access to information, multidisciplinary and inter-institutional cooperation that needs to be strengthened to ensure easier referral procedures so that victims receive timely assistance and support during judicial proceedings.
During the first months of 2026 partners focused also on organisational aspects so that to ensure the smoth implementation of a transnational conference that will take place on 22 May 2026 in Sweden, an event that will be attended by participants from Romania, Germany, Italy and Sweden. The online campaign, which began in 2025, continued between January and April 2026, the aim of this online action being to raise awareness of victims’ rights, crime reporting procedures, and to contribute to behavioral changes such as combating victim-blaming attitudes.
