The third newsletter of the European disability project ‘LITIS’ is online.
NEWSLETTER N.3
Dear Stakeholders and Collaborators,
We are pleased to share with you the latest updates on the LITIS project and offer a selection of valuable materials developed within its framework.
Between May and July 2025, five national training sessions were organized in Romania, Spain, and Italy as part of the project. The goal of these events was to train over 100 lawyers and legal professionals in the field of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, thereby contributing to the enhancement of professional skills and promoting a more equitable legal framework at both the national and European levels.
During the training sessions, participants had the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in the field of strategic litigation, particularly with regard to multiple and intersectional discrimination, as well as other human rights violations affecting persons with disabilities. These trainings provided an essential platform for legal professionals to discuss the challenges encountered in strategic litigation and deepen their understanding of how EU and international law can be applied to these complex cases.
The topics covered included a broad range of relevant issues, such as:
- Legislation on the rights of persons with disabilities, which is crucial for understanding and protecting the rights at the national, European, and international levels.
- The importance of strategic litigation in promoting fairness and combating discrimination, highlighting its role in systematically changing legal norms.
- Legal and procedural considerations in addressing multiple and intersectional discrimination at national, European, and international levels, with attention to the specificities of each jurisdiction.
- Developing effective advocacy strategies to support strategic litigation and safeguard the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities.
The events provided a valuable opportunity for participants to consolidate their legal knowledge and develop practical skills in promoting social justice. They had a significant impact on professional development and contributed to strengthening the network of human rights practitioners.
In the hope that this information will be useful to you, we are attaching some of the presentations used by the trainers during these events. These presentations detail the topics discussed and serve as a valuable resource for consolidating knowledge in the field of human rights protection.
